The gestational Journey Speakers
The Gestational Journey brought together thought leaders from around the world to carefully and considerately address each phase in detail. From understanding the importance of preparing the body nutritionally prior to conception, supporting assisted fertility, learning about the importance of ensuring a healthy gut microbiome, how to optimise the womb environment, as well as understanding how to support autoimmune conditions during pregnancy, plus exploring how to support women after birth from a physical point of view, but also crucially from a mental health perspective.
Dr Deanna Minich
Dr. Deanna Minich is a functional medicine-trained clinician and researcher who combines physiology and psychology. She has served on the Institute of Functional Medicine’s Nutrition Advisory Board and curriculum committee, in addition to being a faculty member, teaching nutrition for the Advanced Practice Module for Detoxification. Her academic background is in nutritional science, including a Master’s Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Illinois at Chicago (1995), and a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences (Nutrition) from the University of Groningen in The Netherlands (1999). She is both a Fellow (F.A.C.N.) and a Certified Nutrition Specialist (C.N.S.) through the American College of Nutrition and spends her time as a Board member for the American College of Nutrition and the Nutritional Therapy Association, and as adjunct faculty at the University of Western States. She is the author of six books on nutrition, wellness, and psychology.
Dr Carrie Jones, ND, MPH
Dr. Jones graduated from the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, Oregon then went on to complete her residency in women’s health, endocrinology and hormones. Later she graduated from Grand Canyon University’s Master of Public Health program with a goal of doing more international work and health empowerment. Dr. Jones was a long time adjunct professor at NUNM teaching Advanced Endocrinology and Fertility, and regularly consults, lectures, and writes on the topic of hormones, adrenals more both nationally and internationally. She is the Medical Director at Precision Analytical, Inc., creators of the DUTCH test.
Angela Heap, NT, mBANT
Angela Heap is a Nutritional Therapist who specialises in fertility, hormonal management and pregnancy. She uses diagnostic tools to support her work in bringing her clients’ bodies back to balance, focusing heavily on testing and genetics. Angela also works closely with a number of internationally renowned experts in the field of fertility and is the fertility and pregnancy specialist on the 2nd Largest MTHFR gene mutation forum on Facebook MTHFR A1298c, with 14,000 members. She provides seminars around hormones for leading laboratories, and writes regularly for magazines and on her blog.
Benjamin I. Brown, ND
Ben is a science writer and speaker specializing in nutrition and functional medicine. He is author of The Digestive Health Solution and contributes regularly to industry magazines and scientific journals. Ben is Editor of the Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine, Contributing Editor of Integrative Healthcare and Applied Nutrition, Director of Clinical Education for Pure Encapsulations UK, and on the Advisory Board and Lecturer at BCNH College of Nutrition and Health. Dr Joel M. Evans, MD
A board-certified OB/GYN and international lecturer and the Director of The Center for Functional Medicine in Stamford, CT, Dr Evans is also the Chief Medical Officer of HealthPointe Solutions, which specializes in the use of Artificial Intelligence in Health Care. Dr. Evans was honored to speak at the United Nations on the topic of Prenatal Origins of Violence, and he serves as UN Representative and Chief Medical Advisor for OMAEP – World Organization of Prenatal Education Associations. His book on the holistic approach to pregnancy, The Whole Pregnancy Handbook, has received widespread critical acclaim and media attention. He is currently the Medical Director of the Association for Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Health. Dr Felice Gersh, MD
Dr Felice Gersh is a rare combination of Board Certified OB/GYN who is also Board Certified and fellowship trained in Integrative Medicine. Dr. Gersh has achieved renown for her expertise in the hormonal management of women. She has a special interest in PCOS, the most common endocrinopathy of women, reproduction and fertility, and in the numerous challenges women face with the advent of menopause and the accompanying loss of ovarian hormones. Stephanie Greunke is a registered dietitian with a master’s degree in nutrition who specializes in prenatal/postnatal health. She is a certified personal trainer and prenatal and postnatal corrective exercise specialist. Stephanie guides and supports women locally and globally through her web-based private practice, www.RockYourHormones.com. She co-hosts a biweekly podcast, Real Food Mamas Podcast, with a naturopathic doctor who specializes in pediatrics. Stephanie is also the co-creator of Whole30's Healthy Mama, Happy Baby program.
Aristo Vojdani, PhD, MSc, CLS
Aristo Vojdani is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Dept. of Preventive Medicine at Loma Linda University
in California, and an Adjunct Professor at the Lincoln College of Professional, Graduate and Continuing Education at the National University of Health Sciences. His ongoing research focuses on the role of environmental triggers in complex disease s. Dr. Vojdani's research has resulted in the development of more than 300 antibody assays for the detection of autoimmune disorders and other diseases. He holds fifteen US patents for laboratory assessments of immune disorders associated with the brain and gut, has published more than 170 articles in magazines and scientific journals, and has just published the book 'Neuroimmunity and the Brain-Gut Connection' with Nova Science Publishers. He is the CEO and Technical Director of Immunosciences Lab in Los Angeles, California, and is also the Chief Scientific Advisor for Cyrex Labs in Phoenix, Arizona. Over the years he has received the Herbert J. Rinkel Award, the Linus Pauling, PhD Award, and the F. R. Carrick Research Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
